Days 305 & 306

Finally I'm finding enough energy and stamina to riffle thru my pens and inks to create journal pages. It can only get better from here.

After watching election coverage for 5 months non-stop while flat on my back
It must be addressed.

Pearl

This is the painting I've been working on over the past month when I was feeling well enough.

Por Los Caballito

I have not been posting and figured I needed to explain, I have been for 5 months on a medication that was absolutely brutal and debilitating and as a consequence could not keep up with the 365 posts. I completed that regimen 2 days ago and feeling better. I have been painting sporadically and thought I would post

Day 80

Try Dyeing! Work with food or fabric dye. You can try traditional tie-dye methods or just paint on it. Experiment with unconventional materials.

I used food coloring in plastic cups and tie dyed using rubber bands and bread ties to hold the folds of the plain white paper towel.  I dryed the paper towel with the heat gun then stamped the images using archival ink.  the lettering was done with black marker.

Day 79

Walk through an alley or along a small road and pick up discarded material to work with.

I picked up a brown paper bag and used it to make this drawing of a trash can and garbage.

Day 78

Make up a name and write a back story for a stranger you see today.

Here is my little story with a made up name, Anouette, illustrated with an image digitally manipulated in photo shop from other pictures.

Day 77

Work with shredded paper. Use an actual paper shredder or simply cut paper into thin strips.

I call this one Interwoven because it proved to be just that...on so many levels. I wish I had recorded the whole process because it was so much fun, even cathartic!

Day 76

Make something inspired by and/or that fits on or around the ear.

Abstract: Ear with Earring

Day 75

Get some chalk and work on the sidewalk near your home.

Although I do have some chalk and a sidewalk near my home I made a digital drawing for this art page.

Day 74

Be Bold.  Go to a store that you frequently shop at and ask that they let you make something there.

I didn't ask but the cashiers in Big Lots watched me change their St. Patrick's Day display and take a picture of the hats I rearranged into the shape of a shamrock, I used a different shaped hat in the center

Day 73

Day 73: Work with the gravel, sand, or rocks available near your home.

Does this image really exist?
This is an all digital piece. I took a picture of my desert landscape in the front yard with my phone, I manipulated it in several different art and photo apps adding green grass and manipulating the other colors.  It amazes me that this image is not something I have ever touched physically, and yet it now IS, real and tangible, as digital art bits and bytes swirling in the cosmos and only so until I print the journal page!

Day 72

Use all of the shoes in your household to make something, or work on a single pair of shoes that were destined for the thrift store.

Everytime I wear these I either trip or twist my ankle, I know they have to go but this is the only orange pair I have.

Day 71

Time Travel.  Make something that seems like it came from another era in history.

This page started out as a plain sheet of white cardstock!

Day 70

Work only with numbers today. You could make an image using numbers, make something into number shapes, do something involving a calculator, or...?

Water soluable oil pasterls on white cardstock.

Day 69

Day 69: Make a puzzle or make something using puzzle pieces.

This is acrylic paint and oil pastel watercolor on canvas paper
Still stuck on fairies. Oh, and the puzzle  pieces...NOT so much.

Day 68

Create something with paper mache.

Still stuck in Fairyland in my head, I made this little fairy castle door from paper mache.

Day 67

Write a ten-word science fiction story. Bonus illustrate it!

Pod World ~ by Billie Carter   "The pod burst open to reveal the hybrid pea inside."
Still stuck on the idea of the fairy earth mother from yesterday.

Day 66

Go to the grocery, pick up something new specifically to work with.

I bought an 8 piece set of BIC color mark-it permanent markers and drew this mother nature fairy.

Day 65

Work with only the classic tangram shapes.

This page is so not who I am as an artist, i'm just not feeling the cut and paste thing. I need to draw and paint!  I guess I need to remember this fact with the prompts going forward and make sure the pages reflect my aesthetic.

Day 64

It's all about you.  Incorporate yourself into whatever you make.  It could be by wearing the work, by creating a self portrait, or...

My philosophy: Add a little sparkle when ever you can.  Uncover beauty where you find it hidden.  Make someone happy.  Love and Peace 2 U.

Monday, March 5, 2012

Day 63

Behind the mask. Create a unique mask with whatever materials you like.

I used so many different things...
Feathers from my duster, a tag from Apple Bottom jeans, paper napkin, gift wrap foil, metallic pens, glitter glue, acrylic jewels etc.

Day 62

Make something with your dinner before you eat it.

Here is my dinner. Lobster cakes, with hash browns and spinach salad.  My thanks to the clown chef!

Day 61

Use only things you find around the bathroom to create something.

I used eye brow pencil to draw the perfume bottle, and used black fingernail polish and pink eye shadow for the lips, liquid eyeliner for the flourish etc. Face powder and pink eye shadow in the background, and brown shadow along the edges.
